Details of our groups

We currently run three groups in Bristol for people with social anxiety. These consist of one group in central Bristol, one group in north Bristol (Horfield) and a women only group (central Bristol). This page contains basic information about our groups including what they are, where and when they are, and what might be expected of you. More detailed information is available in the Session Information, Session Schedule and Joining sections of this website.

What are the groups?

The groups are safe spaces where you can come to meet other people who experience social anxiety. We provide different types of group session to help you increase your confidence and improve your quality of life. The group sessions are facilitated and the facilitator's role is to take you through the set session structure, welcome new members and make sure our basic rules are kept to. Please note that they are not there to give advice, act as a therapist or tell people what they should do. They will, however, provide you with information on overcoming social anxiety when you first attend, help create an environment that enables your personal development, and provide opportunities for you to build up your confidence.

Please note that we hire our venues from third party organisations, but we are not affiliated with them.

Remember

  • You do not have to take part in any of the group activities during the session. Please just say that you will pass if you do not want to take part in anything. Members do not have to explain why they wish to pass.
  • There is no obligation or pressure to share personal issues or information. You do not have to share anything if you do not want to.
  • Remember that we are all there for the same reason - because we experience social anxiety or have experienced social anxiety in the past to a degree where we felt it necessary to seek help and support.
  • Please let us know if you are unhappy about anything concerning the group.
